IBS questions
Can diet really help IBS?
For many people, yes. Dietary approaches such as a guided low-FODMAP elimination and reintroduction are among the best-studied ways to reduce IBS symptoms. They work best with a dietitian, so the diet stays nutritionally complete and is not more restrictive than it needs to be.
Do I need a diagnosis before starting?
We recommend seeing a doctor first to rule out other conditions. If you have red-flag symptoms such as unexplained weight loss, blood in your stool or symptoms that wake you at night, please see a physician promptly.
Will I have to avoid my favourite foods forever?
No. The elimination phase is temporary. The goal of reintroduction is to find your personal triggers and tolerance levels so you can eat as widely as possible.
